The new patient experience – what to expect

Your first appointment will be an hour, and it will typically begin with some questions about your general health and lifestyle before focusing on your presenting compliant. The next stage may involve some diagnostic testing, with me asking you to carry out a range of movements that allows me to assess the state of your bodies muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Once I have gathered enough information to gain an in-depth understanding of what’s going on, I will take the time of explain your compliant to you, in a way in you can really understand. I will then outline a tailored healing plan which will be most suitable for you to rectify the true cause of your presenting problem before starting the treatment.

How you can help me

If you have not seen an Osteopath before, or you are unsure of what to bring, here is a list of things that will help me, to help you, get the most out of your first consultation.

  • A list of any prescription medication you are taking.
  • Any written medical reports or scans that you feel maybe relevant to your presenting compliant.
  • Appropriately fitting clothing which may include shorts and sports bras to enable the Osteopath to carry out an assessment.
  • Your more than welcome to bring a family member or a chaperone to the consultation with you. This is especially important for children under the age of 16 where it is compulsory.

Find your balance, energy & happiness the natural way.
